ShaperTalks | 2016 Project Pitch Day, Global Shapers San Francisco

Published on

Every year, the Global Shapers Hub of San Francisco tackle one or more projects to make a positive impact on San Francisco. On October 2, 2016, the Hub hosted Project Pitch Day to pitch the projects that are currently underway to our community as a call to action to contribute time, resources, and ideas to the projects.

We host a monthly speaker series, open to the public, that highlights one or more thought leaders who have shaped their industries. Every month, we showcase a different industry to give insider and outsiders of that industry a special look at the past, present, and future of that world.

  8. 8. ShaperTalks Example talk and theme (not confirmed): Becky Bond on how to leverage technology and the enthusiasm of millennials to build lasting change. One of the key capabilities of Next Economy companies is building a platform to harness the energy of a loosely connected network. But most networks—think Uber or Airbnb—have built a network around a single task: offering rides or a house for rent. Becky Bond and Zack Exley, who built the online organizing platform for the Sanders campaign, had to do something even harder: they built a decentralized network with a constantly changing mix of tasks, where a worker could be a manager one day and a field worker the next. They built an initiative network. Not only that, they stood up the network in less time than the average startup. They have a lot to teach us about how to organize talent in the pursuit of grand challenges. — Tim O’Reilly”
