Itcompactly contains an embedded web server, journaldatabase with built-in software applications thatoperates independently without the need of an extraPC. Operation is carried out using a keypad for inputand a built-in smart card reader to transfer informationto and from the Member Card. Transaction recordsstored in the Terminal can be collected by iBonusServer software through TCP/IP network.Very easy to deployUnattended Server DesignWhen deploying iBonus Terminal at each outlet, it onlyneeds to enter the Server IP and Server port at eachTerminal. iBonus Server automatically register theTerminal when the Terminal connects to the server thefirst time. Deregistration is also to be done at Terminalside. The setup process can be done even there is noone attending the iBonus Server. It saves up the manpower during deployment.Dynamic Virtual IP OperationEvery TCP/IP connections between iBonus Terminaland iBonus Server is initiated at Terminal side. With thesimplicity of the protocol, Terminals can work perfectlywith just a dynamic virtual IP. Port forwarding at theTerminal side is not necessary. It saves the effort onconfiguring the tricky router settings.System Health MonitoringThe system health can be monitored at server side.Administrator can make use of the information shownat the eRewards Software to track the Terminal whichneeds maintenance. Web report viewing terminalstatus
  3. 3. Advanced Card ControlLost card replacement, expiry date extension and cardrepair can be done at any branches.Real Time Balance CheckingMembers can enjoy real time balancing by simplypresenting their card to iBonus Terminal. If the Terminalis connected to POS, the balance is also sent to POS.Receipt Reprint and Auto ReprintWhen printer is connected, a receipt is printedwhenever any transaction is made. Press the button Aif you wish to reprint the receipt of the last transaction. If auto reprint is on, two receipts will be print for everytransaction.Customizable Customer IDCard issuing company may like their card number tobe in their own format. Administrator can customizethe customer ID of each member card. In case ofcustomers losing their member card, the replacedmember card can have the same customer ID. Therange of customer ID is 0 – 9999999999999999.4 Expiry Date Calculation ModesThere are 4 different choices of Member Card expiryschemes:1. Always Valid In scheme 1, member card never expires. Thisis simple. However card replace and blacklistingfeature cannot be used.2. Fixed Month In scheme 2, Fixed Month, you simply decidewhich month of the year you want the MemberCard to be expired. For example, the current monthis February and the expiry month is set as January. The Member Card will not be able to use in Januaryof next year.3. Relative to Card Initializing Date In scheme 3, Relative to Card Initializing Date, youhave to define the number of months relative to theMember Card Initializing Date. For example, if youset 12 months and the Member Card is initializedon January 2002, the Member Card will be expiredon January 2003.4 54. Automatic expiry extension based on the last visit. In scheme 4, Automatic Expiry Extension Based onthe Last Visit, the expiry date will be automaticallyextended by the administrator defined periods(months) if Members purchase, redeem, or reloadbefore the card expires.Staff Card ReconfirmationStaff card is needed to be presented to the Terminalagain for some transaction types which are lessfrequently used. It will ensure staff intention on usingthose transaction types.Staff Card Transaction AuditingStaff Card ID is logged for every transaction. It willfacilitate auditing at the server report. iBonus Reportcan summarize the amount collected by each individualstaff.Maximum E-Cash LimitiBonus Master Card defines the maximum e-Cashamount to be stored in each card. This safety measureenhances the safety for the card users.Maximum Transaction LimitMaximum transaction limit must be defined in eachstaff card. All transaction that alters the accumulatedspending or e-Cash balance is limited by this value.High ScalabilityMicrosoft Access Support / Microsoft SQL Server2005 supportiBonus Server connects to Microsoft Access databaseand also connects to Microsoft SQL Server 2005through ADO .Net technology. For a large deploymentwith sophisticated reporting or clusters for database,Microsoft SQL Server 2005 can fit in to such purpose. Also by using the reporting service feature in SQLServer 2005, iBonus Reports – a web based report canbe leveraged. The iBonus System instantly becomes ahub for generating sales a financial report centre.High Reliability5000 Transaction BufferIn case of temporary network failure, transaction isstored in the flash memory of iBonus Terminal. Up to5000 transaction can be stored in the memory. As soonas the network is reestablished, the transaction is sentback to server. As the database in iBonus is used asbuffer, the data integrity of the database is taken intogreat care. Journal database is implemented at iBonusTerminal. During Terminal start-up the flash memorycopy of the database is decompressed to RAM. Duringthe transaction, each updating SQL command isrecorded at the journal file after successful executionon the RAM copy of the database. The database iscommitted either periodically or when the journal filereaches a certain size. During write back, the RAMcopy is written back to the Flash memory. In case ofunexpected power shutdown, all the commands in thejournal file are re-executed against the flash memorycopy of database.Record Duplication DetectioniBonus Server ensures that no record is recorded twicein the database. This is done by recording the last recordof that terminal in the Server. If the acknowledgementof the transfer of the last record is missed, the Terminalmay send back the same record again. By comparingthe record being transferred with the last record,Server can tell whether there is duplication and rejectthe record accordingly.High SecurityAnti-fraud Card Control feature The newly replaced card will reflect the pre-blacklistsalvage value of the lost card even it is used at anyother Terminals after reported loss, Only one replaced card is issued even the userintentionally report card loss in more than oneterminal within a short time, The repaired card must reflect the latest cardinformation even the card has done a transactionat another branch a short time before needing torepair, The blacklist will not be grown to an unlimited sizeby allowing only the card having expiry date to beblacklisted, only the valid card are blacklisted, and The card being renewed must not be a blacklistedcard.iBonus Master Card Key LoadingiBonus Terminal guarantee to operate only with thecard issue by the same company. This is achieved byloading key from iBonus Master Card. As the key andcompany code of iBonus Master Card delivered toeach company is different. iBonus Terminal can onlyrecognize the member card with the same key.Staff Card Transaction AuditingStaff Card ID is logged for every transaction. It willfacilitate auditing at the server report. iBonus Reportcan summarize the amount collected by each individualstaff.Card BlacklistingIn case of losing member card, the lost card can beblacklisted by using Request Replace function. With in1/4 day, all terminals will collect the newest blacklistfrom the server.Maximum Prepaid LimitiBonus Master Card defines the maximum prepaidamount to be stored in each card. This safety measureenhances the safety for the card users.Maximum Transaction LimitMaximum transaction limit must be defined in eachstaff card. All transaction that alters the accumulatedspending or prepaid balance is limited by this value.LocalizableLanguage localizationAll the wordings and currency signs at the LCDdisplay and receipt can be localized*. Customer canhave iBonus Terminal adapted to their language bysubmitting their translating table to us. Translatedwordings are limited by the characters available at theLCD display and receipt printersDecimal and Integral Currency SupportiBonus System supports both integral currency andcurrency with two places. If decimal mode is chosen themaximum prepaid value is 83,886.07. If integer modeis chosen, the maximum prepaid value is 8,388,607.This setting is unified by the iBonus Master Card.

By default, AED.1 (one Dhiram)purchase will generate one bonus point. In the caseof key in error, the value can be adjusted by an undoaction.Multi-shop Loyalty CapabilityA Classic Card can be shared by 15 different shops using15 different sectors of the card memory. Informationon each sector is protected by an encryption key.Transaction logUp to 5,000 transaction records such as adding bonuspoints, redemption, staff login, and Member profilecan be recorded on the Terminal. The 5,001th recordwill overwrite the 1st record. These records can beretrieved through LAN / WAN or the Internet withAVI Infosys Server software. AVI Infosys Server cansupport record collection from multiple Terminals.Deducting bonus points upon confirmationof redemptionTerminal displays selected redemption item(s) andprompts for confirmation when a Member Card ispresented. Once it is confirmed, bonus points willbe deducted from the Member Card. Optionally, acoupon or a receipt can be printed if a receipt printer isconnected to the Terminal. Consult your dealer for therecommended receipt printer model.Special TopicsMaster Card for unique member Card ID 6 CompanyCode assignment In the AVI Infosys eRewardssystem, the Member Card ID (4 bytes) for Memberidentification,CompanyCode(2bytes)forCompanyidentification and maximum transaction value areassigned using a Master Card supplied by thefactory. Member Cards will not be able to operateon Terminals if the Company Code of the MemberCard is different from that of the Terminals.Technical Specification
  5. 5. 8 9Each Master Card is capable of issuing 100 at one gounique Member Card ID’s in sequence. For example,a Master Card can assign a range of Member ID from1000004550 to 1000004650. With this Master Card, new Member Card can be issued from any Terminal.Lost Master Card will not be replaced.Staff Card and Staff Operation AuditingThe Member Card operation at the Terminal and E-CashTerminal requires staff login. There are several kindsof staff actions: login, logout, force logout, purchase, undo purchase, etc, and they will be recorded astransactions. AVI InfosysServer can generate reportsfor a particular staff. For example, a report can showthe total redemption operated by a particular staff inlast month.iBonus e-Cash SubsystemiBonus e-Cash Subsystem operates the same wayas iBonus Loyalty System except it manipulatesboth the e-Cash currency value and bonus pointson the member card. Also, this subsystem requiresthe use of Classic Card which has more memoryand higher security. The basic components of the subsystem consist ofiBonus e-Cash Terminal, and iBonus Server.e-Cash iBonus TerminalIt operates the same way as Loyalty except it adds ordeducts e-Cash dollar value on the Member Card.Reload e-Cash ValueReloading value is done by entering the amount on theTerminal and then presenting the Member Card. In thecase of key-in error, the value can be adjusted by anundo action. Value on Member Card can be reloadedusing the keypad of the e-Cash Terminal. By default,1 bonus point will be added to the Member Card forevery Local Currency spent.Deduct AED or any Country currencyValue on PurchasePurchase selection is done on the Shopping Displayunit. Once it isconfirmed, currency value will be deducted from theMember Card.Optionally, a coupon or a receipt can be printed if areceipt printer is connected to the Terminal. Consultyour dealer for the recommended receipt printermodel.Integration to third party PC-based Point-of-Salessystem (POS)IBonus terminal can be integrated to most third partyWindows-based Point-of-Sales (POS) systems toreceive the sales amount so as to eliminate the need ofmanual input of points and values. However, it requiresthe third party POS system to send out the salesamount (optionally with transaction ID) data throughany COM port to AVI Infosys Terminal. AVI Infosysprovides a Windows based programming library in .dllfor this purpose. There are 3 functions in this library:AVI Infosys Init () to define the COM port used; AVIInfosys GetVersion () to obtain the version number ofthe IBonus terminal; and AVI Infosys_send (Date_Time,Amount, transaction ID, Type, Timeout) which returnsthe acknowledgment value.Member Card Replacement, Bad list and CardExpiry SchemesIn general, lost Member Card will not be replaced asthis simplifies the operation; and it is the responsibilityof the Members to store their cards in a safe place. However, there will be some operators that requirereplacement of lost cards. In this case, Members canreport lost card via any Terminal by inputting theirMember ID and their date of birth. The validity of themember ID and the date of birth will be verified bythe iBonus Server. After the information is verified, the Card ID of the lost card will be included in the badlist which will be broadcasted to all terminals to denyfuture access of the lost card. The card replacement IDwill be generated at the terminal and optionally printedon a receipt. The replacement card information pluscard replacement ID will be sent to the terminal whichoriginated the request. A replacement member cardcan now be issued at the terminal with of the newlygenerated card replacement ID.Since there is always a limit of memory capacity, thebad list cannot be allowed to grow forever. Our systemcontrols the length of the bad list by using an effectiveexpiry scheme of member cards. 3 different choicesof member card expiry schemes are employed: fixeddate, fixed period, and automatic expiry extension.Member Smartcardse-Rewards Program Improve Customer Retention andSpending. eRewards programs improve customerretention and encourage spending. Since it requires a highlyreliable network and centralized databaseserver,thetraditionalmagneticstrip-basedeRewards System faces the problem ofcostly installation and maintenance in themulti-sites environment.Since most of the shops are small in sizeor franchise based, there is rarely in-house technical or R1IS personnel, Thus, the operation at the shop has to be simpleand the deployment of the system has to bein stages so as to reduce the risk of totalinvestment loss.Solution: The whole system deploymentcan be divided into 3 stages:[a] Trial run in 1-2 shops[b] Limited deployment at few shops[c] Full scale deployment.
  8. 8. 14 15In stage (a) - trial system, it requires aminimum of the following systemcomponents pre-configured by theadministrator: An Intranet, Internet, or telephone modem setupfor the system allowing remote monitoring andadministration. Issue limited number of Member Cards and somestaff Cards using the Master Card supplied by thefactory. Configure IBonus terminal(s) with specific BranchCode and Terminal Code to identify the branchlocation. Connect to power with a factory suppliedpower adapter. Make necessary configuration and definition ofMember profile, Membership Class, etc on the AVIInfosys Display units. Mount those units on thewall and connect to power with a factory suppliedpower adapter. Test the remote network connection by using theweb browser to access the IBonus terminal andthe Display unit. Install AVI Infosys Server on a regular Windowsbased PC at the headquarter. Train the operators at the shop level to operate thesystem. The system is ready for trial run.In stage (b) - limited deployment, it issimply a replication of the success of thetrial system into different shops. Make sure that all Terminals at each shop have thesame Branch Code to identify the branch location. Color patterns can be designed and printed on theMember Cards for the purpose of corporate iden-tity and for promotion. Member or Staff Cards can be issued from any Ter-minals using Master Cards supplied by the factory. Make sure that all staff is trained on the operationof the system. Prepare a spare set of Terminal and Display unitjust in case of device failure. In stage (c) - full scale deployment is readywhen administrator and operation staff are veryfamiliar with the operation. After all, AVI InfosyseRewards System is scalable and easyto use.International Loyalty Solutionfor Airlines and HotelsMost international airlines and hotels have implement-ed magnetic-strip-card-based loyalty or membershipsystems. Other than having an advantage of a relative-ly low card production cost, these systems have theprominent problems of:(a) High technical maintenance of centralizeddatabase servers(b) Costly intranet or Internet connection worldwide(c) Extremely expensive mailing of accountstatements(d) Expensive local operators at each location.Solution: Our AVI Infosyse-Rewards Systemcan easily replacethe traditionalmagnetic strip cardsystem with thefollowing benefits: The currentinformationis stored onthe MemberCard and the transaction records are sent in batchto headquarters.
