Problem Statement​ :
1) Add new dynamic content anywhere
2) Dynamic layout and style for the dynamic content
3) Configure once, and achieve above without updating apk
Usecase : In e­commerce, dynamic content refers to those elements that adapts or changes
according to the past click behaviour of the user. It aims to generate a user experience tailored
exactly to the interests of the user. For us, there is requirement where story has to be conveyed
to the end user while user is exploring the details of product. For example, a user is buying a
sofa, we can tell about the life of sofa, guarantee info, internal view of sofa using a image etc.
The important thing is content, layout and styling for every product story is different. So, the
question is how to achieve it ?
How did we crack it ? : After having long discussion with backend team , we came up a design
for the response, where the server will give content, its layout the and styling details for a
content block in the json response.The json has nested different elements where the elements
can be a text, image, block or nested block. We parse the json and convert it to a layout with all
styles for that element. The json content is stored on server which can be changed anytime and
that change will get reflected in the app real time. This way, we can add any new content block
anywhere and even we can control the layout and styles of the elements in real time.
Performance Measure : There is very minor impact on performance i.e. extra time taken to
render the layout of the dynamic content of the product story which is in milliseconds
Business Impact : With dynamic content block, we are able to experiment a lot with content, as
a result we are able to provide people users more detailed information about anything which is
leading to more increased user sessions and there is increase in number of people added
product to their cart and which resulted in increased revenue.
Scope of Improvement : There are certain limitations on the current implementation and there
are scope for improvements. We are working on it to make it more flexible and scalable.
