Game Concept Each player controls a pirate ghost with vastly different abilities and responsibilities. Together they try to hold back a skeleton invasion. One player puts on a VR Headset and takes on the role of a close combat specialist. Armed with two pistols, he can get rid of the boarding skeletons The other player is a lookout who sits in the crow’s nest on top of the main mast. With his main weapon, a sniper rifle, he can decimate enemy crews even before they can board. Your enemies cannot harm you directly. Instead, they are trying to burn your ship. They focus their attack on 7 weak points. After a point has taken enough damage, it is permanently destroyed. Once all 7 points are burning or destroyed, your ship sinks. The skeletons may try to cut down your main mast, rendering your ship useless. Either way, you lose. To prevent this from happening, you need to make use of resources. The most important one is water. The player in the crow’s nest can throw down buckets filled with water to extinguish fires. The VR Player can pick up buckets, refill them and send them up the main mast. Otherwise, the lookout will run out of water eventually. Neither of you could be able to survive alone. Only together you can survive long enough to reach a safe harbor! 2. Game Goals - Eliminate skeletons. - Support your partner. - Manage your resources. - Prevent the destruction of your ship. - Reach a safe harbor 3. Genre and Game Information Rip the Ribs is a local multiplayer wave shooter with one VR- and one PC-Player. It features a cartoony low poly style. Playable on PC and developed using the Unity Engine.

Setting Rip the Ribs takes place on a sea which is haunted by dead sailors. Drowned pirates, reduced to bones or even ethereal forms, continue to search and fight for plunder. Even though sharing a common fate, there is animosity between skeletons and ghosts. There is just one trading port in which a fragile peace between the two fractions exists. That is, until the protagonists are caught cheating, and our game begins. 5. Target Audience This game is perfect for friends, siblings or couples who like to play a dynamic game in which they can test their cooperation. Due to its harmless content and art style, it is also suitable for younger audiences. Since only one VR Headset and one PC is needed, it is easy and comfortable to start playing. If one player gets motion sick they can also just switch roles and keep on playing! 6. Walkthrough When the game is started, two motionless 3D scenes are displayed. The story is briefly explained via text. The game starts at a harbor (Phase 1). Both players are on their ship, waiting for the anchor to lift and the sails to set. Skeletons are running across the pier, trying to board. When the anchor is lifted, and the sails are taut, the ship leaves the port (Phase 2). As the ship heads out into the open sea, small boats filled with a few skeletons each, approach from all sides. The pirate ship is approaching the ghost sanctuary (Phase 3) The closer the ship gets to a safe ghost harbor, the fiercer the enemies attack. A thick fog makes it difficult to see and harder to defend. When the harbor is reached, the skeletons pull back and the game is won.
