SOPAN 2020-2025 stresses on fish based nutrition

Highlights of the MoU

1. Train & empower 6000 WSHGs in nutrition-sensitive fish
production systems in GP tanks

2. Train & empower 10 WSHGs (100 women) on
hygienic solar fish drying
• Includes cleaning & dressing of the small indigenous species of fish from wild
catch; hygienic solar drying through small-scale home industry set-up and
linking to SNP & marketing.
• Collaboration with ICAR-CIFT for low-cost solar driers and skill development.

3. Design & develop age-specific fish based products from small
indigenous species (capture fisheries, especially marine) for
children/adolescent girls/ pregnant & nursing women

4. Commercially produce fish based products from small indigenous
species & market it

5. Piloting the inclusion of fish
based products in 50 AWCs
SOP for inclusion of dried fish
in SNP

6. Study tours & brain storming sessions for learnings on
fish based nutritional benefits

7. Preparation of feasibility report on inclusion of fish in SNP

8. Dissemination on benefits of fish-based nutrition through
protagonist Tiki Mausi

9. Awareness on importance of fish based nutrition in 1000
days of life in 125 hard to reach projects under SOPAN

10. Share scientific evidences on benefits of fish consumption

10. Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) of MoU defined
activities and documentation of activities & outcomes
