Enter your TRACKS user name and password

4. Wordpress dashboard
This is the backend where you will create new posts
To get back here go to ecurrent.fit.edu/wp-admin
Click on "Posts" and select "Add New" to start writing
an article
5. This is where you'll write your content, upload
images, link out to other websites and embed
videos

Create a clickable headline, it’s crucial
Create a storytelling hook to draw readers in
Use fewer characters per line at first
Upload a compelling feature image
Use subheads for scanning
Shoot for 1,500 words, 750 at least
Create a 140 character tweet about your post
Or Infuse a soundbite that is begging to be shared
Use keywords so your post gets found and read

Click here to upload images and audio files
Highlight a word or phrase you want to link out
to and click here to copy and paste the url
Click on the "Text" tab if you have
an embed code you want to
insert into your post

Use your own
or create one
with canva.com

In the post editor, click here to upload images
Internal name to find your photo again
Select "Upload Files"
You can either drop your photos
from your desktop into the
box or click on "Select Files"

10. Featured image
You can upload and insert as many images as
you want into your post
It will be your post's thumbnail image
and should be visually interesting
You must select one to be your post's
featured image
Once selected, it will not appear in the post
editing area, it will when you preview the post
and in the right-side "featured image" widget
11. Embedding video
Youtube & Vimeo work seamlessly with Wordpress
Simply copy and paste the
url in to the body of your
post and the video will
automatically embed itself
12. Embedding audio
You can add mp3, m4aa, ogg or wav audio files
into your posts
Click on "Add Media' and select your file from
your computer
Add title, caption and description
Under "Attachment Display Settings", make sure
"Link to None" is selected
Click "Insert into post"
13. Using keywords
Help readers find your content by inserting
specific words or phrases into your title and
body
Use the Wordpress SEO widget to help
determine words that readers might be typing
into search engines to find articles like yours
and to grade how search engine friendly your
article is
If it's hard for a search engine to determine
what your article is about, it's even harder for a
reader to find your great posts

Scroll to the bottom of your post before you publish
Fill in the missing information under the general tab
Click on the ? icon to learn more about each field
15. Using Wordpress SEO
Click on the Page Analysis and review the items with red, orange
and yellow bullets.
Try to address as many of them as you can, especially the red
items to ensure your post is search engine friendly
16. Submitting your post
Make sure you select the category your article
should appear under in the category widget
Use the preview button in the
publishing widget to preview your
content and make any desired
changes
If you want to schedule your post, click edit and
select a day and time in the future to publish
Depending on your user settings,
select "Submit for Review" or "Publish"

17. To review how much traffic your posts have
received, click on posts from your
dashboard,
Under the "Analytics" column, click on the
small graph icon
From there, you can see how many page
views your post has received, as well as
users (visitors)
