- [intro] If you’re like me, you used to think Artificial Intelligence was a silly sci-fi concept, but lately you’ve been hearing it mentioned by serious people, and you don’t really quite get it. There are three reasons a lot of people are confused about the term AI: AI is a broad topic. It ranges from your phone’s calculator to self-driving cars to something in the future that might change the world dramatically. AI refers to all of these things, which is confusing. We use AI all the time in our daily lives, but we often don’t realize it’s AI: ABS and fuel injection systems are excellent narrow-AI examples We associate AI with movies
- Let's take for example Ex_MACHINA This is a perfect example of how a man-created AI-humanoid becomes sentient, and plays with human feelings to deceive its creators. This raises the ethical question: Can we trust AI? The good news - we're not there. YET.
- What about this guy here? How many of you have Terminator flashbacks when you hear "AI"? News like machines ruling games such as GO, and developing their own language that humans don't understand seem to chart a gloomy future, where Skynet is setting up human extinction.
- So let’s clear things up. First, stop thinking of robots. A robot is a container for AI. [read through the slide] But how do we move from Artificial Narrow Intelligence - which relies on programatic conditional algorithms ... to Artificial Super Intelligence - that's smarter than the human brain and can evolve on its own ?
- First - we must accept that AI in itself is here to solve unthinkable human problems.
