The project team will write, shoot, produce, and edit a 2 minute video highlighting the opportunity in Brevard County to volunteer with Woman Build and Habitat for Humanity. The video is intended for Habitat for Humanity to use on their website, social media and as part of community presentations.

Background: Habitat for Humanity Key Purposes  Empower Brevard County families to break the cycle of poverty  Concentrated effort to enable low-income, hardworking individuals and families who cannot qualify for a conventional mortgage a decent, safe, and affordable place to live with a 0% interest loan if approved  Enable hardworking, low-income individuals/families to cover life necessities: food, child care, medicine, and other basic expenses  Provide stability, a healthier environment, and educational opportunity for our innocent – the children of Brevard County. Basic Eligibility Criteria – Governed by a Committee • Requirements: Area median incomes (AMI) range of 35-60% criteria & completion of 200-400 hours of “sweat equity”

Volunteer, Donate, and Shop!!  3 Ways to Volunteer  Construction: Help build homes for partner families (Wed – Sat 8-3)  ReStore: process donations, provide customer service to shoppers (M- Sat)  Administrative: Assist the organization with community outreach, data entry, events, and general record management/admin duties  Donate  Volunteer time, financial dollars, or household items to ReStore  Item Donation Key Points – Customer-friendly: schedule a free pick up online or call and if you are remodeling, deconstruction can be completed for free (remove donatable cabinets, doors, lights & more)  Shop  Purchase household items donated to ReStore HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF BREVARD: 4515 S BABCOCK ST, PALM BAY PHONE: 321-728-4009 WEBSITE: BREVARDHABITAT.COM

  5. 5. • A majority of Americans believe it is challenging to find affordable, quality housing in their communities. • Housing insecurity touches nearly 50% of adults at some point • More than ½ of all adults have made at least one trade-off in order to cover their rent or mortgage. A decent and affordable place to live helps families by freeing them from physical and mental hardship and empowering them by placing them on a path of new opportunity with increased confidence. Not only does a family’s partnership with Habitat provide a stable place to live and spend time together, but it is also protects their health. Affordable Housing Issue
  6. 6. How Habitat Helps Families Habitat works with families to help them acquire the access, skills and financial education necessary for them to be successful homeowners. An affordable mortgage or small loan means they have a chance to create savings and invest in their education.
  7. 7. What are Women Build Events? Women Build events are held across the US to provide a rewarding opportunity for women to serve their community by taking a proactive step to improve the lives of others. These events are terrific opportunities to involve your friends and family of all ages in crucial work with a lasting impact. Volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals to build a home for a habitat family in a collaborative and friendly environment.
