  1. 1. EAQUALS Academic Projects Training Materials for Technology Enhanced Learning Michael Carrier, Alicja Waligóra-Zblewska, Gigi Saurer, Peter Lahiff

Design goals Aims • This project aimed to produce a series of Workshop Resource packs. • Each workshop is designed to provide 60-90mins teacher development. • These workshops are designed for delivery by teacher trainers or DOSes in schools to their own or other groups of teachers. • They are designed to improve the pedagogical and technological competences of teachers, enabling them to use more technological affordances to enhance the learning in their classes. 2

Workshop pack contents Each workshop resource pack contains: • Workshop Outline - to provide a planning overview of the workshop on one page for trainer to reference, which summarises the workshop flow • Trainers' notes - goals, preparation and equipment needed, giving a step-by-step breakdown of activities for the trainees • Trainees' notes - handouts or task sheets, bibliographies etc for teachers to use before, during and after the workshop • Sample lesson materials - learners' handouts, task sheets, homework activities, references to online resources for self-study - actual lesson materials that can be immediately copied and used by teachers to apply what they have learned in the workshop
  5. 5. List of Workshops The initial workshop topics are: • Using Blogs • Using TEDEd • Using YouTube • Using VR • Using Speech Recognition & Speech Translation It is hoped that other EAQUALS members will contribute further workshops to the existing pack. 5
  6. 6. How to develop teachers of bloggers What is blogging, what do people write about, what makes a good blog? Does anyone write a blog? What’s the closest thing to a blog you have? Blog like adventurous Kate Write an introductory post about who you are, how long you are here for and what you want to see / do and blog about when here (Mention English language objectives (from yesterday)). What you have been doing on the course (what you have done and seen, what you have liked the most, cultural differences, etc.). How long you are here for, what you want to see / do and blog about when here. How many posts will you put up per week? 6
