The Key • Gloucestershire’s Disabled Children and Young People’s register (0-25 years) • Statutory requirement of the Children’s Act (1989) • Voluntary register – 1500 + members • Developed as an information service for parent carers and young people with SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) • Benefits include regular newsletters, access to other families for support, free and discounted leisure passes, access to help via the Co-ordinators via phone, email or website • Free and confidential service • Freephone: 0800 009 3442 www.keywords.org.uk

Family Information Service • April 2014, Key transferred to the FIS (Family Information Service) • FIS – free, impartial information, advice and support for families • Information on childcare, free childcare for 2,3 & 4 year olds, local activities, money matters, early support and the Local Offer. • Freephone – 0800 542 0202 www.glosfamiliesdirectory.org.uk

Inclusive Community Activities • Search the whole glosfamiliesdirectory for inclusive activities • You can search by postcode, keywords, using filters or by topic (i.e. Click on ‘Local Offer) to make the search most relevant for your needs. • FIS will provide advice and assistance to parent carers who are having difficulty in finding childcare. This service is called Brokerage and is available to all families.

Gloucestershire Local Offer • The Local Offer is a requirement of LA’s as part of the SEND reforms under the Children and Families Act (2014) • The purpose of the Local Offer is to ‘offer’ information in a single place, which can help you find and understand what services you and your family can access • The aim of the LO is to support parent carers and young people to feel included in their communities and to be independent
