Literature: Accepted forms of fiction and nonfiction include: Prose, poetry, reflective essay, screen play and play script, narrative,
and short story. Entrants may write in their primary language as long as an interpretive English translation is also attached. Use of
copyrighted material is prohibited. Writing must not exceed 2,000 words and may be handwritten or typed. Accepted formats:
Single-sided print on 8 ½x11” paper, PDF file.

  2. 2. ELEMENTS OF A STORY A GOOD STORY IS LIKE A TASTY SOUP. IT FOLLOWS A RECIPE WITH A HANDFUL OF INGREDIENTS THAT ALL BLEND TOGETHER.

  4. 4. CHARACTERS Main Characters Secondary Characters have the greatest impact on the plot and are most affected by what happens in the story Supporting characters are essential to the plot. Minor characters are just there make the story more interesting.
  5. 5. CHARACTERS Protagonist Antagonist the main focus of the story “The Good Guy” but they aren’t always good, think Bug Bunny or Anikan Skywalker in Star Wars Revenge of the Sith. the force acting against your protagonist. “The Bad Guy”
  6. 6. CHARACTERS Dynamic Characters Static Characters experience changes throughout the plot. do not change internally (personality or motivation) during the story.
