LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF…. • 2 B.A.s in political science and communications (Oglethorpe University, 2004) • Law degree (UGA Law, 2007) • M.B.A. focused on leadership (Kennesaw State, 2011) • Legislator in 4th term [5th term unopposed for the 3rd term in a row] (District 93- East DeKalb and South Gwinnett) *54k Georgians • Evolving Role: Diversity Activist (in tech and policy) Disclaimer: Not a government sanctioned or sponsored program and in no way connected with my legislative office

  4. 4. THE WHAT AND WHY OF THE GA P.A.T.H. PROGRAM? • The Problem: Industry still traditional- white, male dominated (like politics) • The Data: Of over 9 MM Georgians- GA is 30.5% African American, 8.8% Hispanic, 3.2% Asian and over half female • The Solution: 7 month exposure program of mentorship & training • 2 Objectives: PIPELINE & RELATIONSHIPS • P.A.T.H.- Providing Access to The Halls [of government] • Why: I have an awesome position. *Poem Disclaimer: Not a government sanctioned or sponsored program and in no way connected with my legislative office or campaign.
  5. 5. WHAT MAKES THE GA P.A.T.H. PROGRAM DIFFERENT? (THAN OTHER LEADERSHIP TYPE PROGRAMS) We focus on the INDIVIDUAL, not the PROGRAM (How can I help you?, Fees can be earned back, 1 on 1 mentorship) We focus on the WORK, not CEREMONY (Keeps fees low, keeps focus on main objectives, keeps program attractive) We focus on COMPREHENSIVE exposure, not SELECTIVE (In field/Out of field assignments, Mentor “shadow” day, Ethics-Celebration) Disclaimer: Not a government sanctioned or sponsored program and in no way connected with my legislative office

IN THE BEGINNING…… • 70 people interested • 40 people applied • 30 people offered space into Inaugural class (30 spaces in the 2018 class) • 20 people completed process to enter class (1 associate member*) • 39 professional GA mentors on roster Disclaimer: Not a government sanctioned or sponsored program and in no way connected with my legislative office or campaign.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR 2019 CLASS? • Advisory Board of Directors will be looking for applicants AND sponsors starting summer of 2018 • Applications open August 1st, 2018 • Selections take place 1st week in September • Prospective class members notified 2nd week in September • Payment and legal MOU due October 1st • 1st class mid October- April 2019 Disclaimer: Not a government sanctioned or sponsored program and in no way connected with my legislative office or campaign.
