Lab 9 Aerobic Field Tests

  1. 2. Materials Used: 1.5 Mile Run Test <ul><li>Running track </li></ul><ul><li>Stopwatch </li></ul>
  2. 3. Methods: 1.5 Mile Run Test <ul><li>Warm-up for 5 mins on the track (cox field) </li></ul><ul><li>The subject needs to complete 6 laps (1.5 miles) as fast as they can </li></ul><ul><li>One of the other group members will be timing them </li></ul><ul><li>Cool-down for 5 mins </li></ul>

Methods: Astrand Cycle Test <ul><li>Depending how the subject is; the workload will range from 2-3 kp (600-900 kgm/min) for women and 3-5 kp (900-1500 kgm/min) for men </li></ul><ul><li>The subject must maintain rpm of 50 </li></ul><ul><li>Take HR every minute </li></ul><ul><li>Test goes for 6 mins or until their HR is at least 125 bpm </li></ul>

  6. 7. Materials: Queens College 3-minute Step Test <ul><li>16.25 inch step </li></ul><ul><li>Metronome </li></ul><ul><li>Stopwatch </li></ul>

Methods: Queens College 3-minute Step Test <ul><li>The subject will step up and down for 3 minutes at a cadence of either 88 (females) or 96 (males), this cadence will be tracked by the metronome </li></ul><ul><li>Once finished wait 5 sec then take the HR </li></ul>Make sure the entire foot is on the step

  9. 10. Operating the cycle ergometer Press 2 for manual/work test The screen will then ask about the Subject’s gender, age, and weight All of this information is unnecessary so Just press enter to skip through.
  10. 11. Operating the cycle ergometer For the purpose of this lab we will use The power (watts) and the force (Kp) modes. Press 3 for watts and press 2 for Kp Always choose the manual setting by Pressing 1

Operating the cycle ergometer The cycle is all ready to go (the force Or power will need to adjusted and will Keep track of the subject’s rpm, their Kp or Watt setting as well as timing the workout Bout and keeping track of the person’s Kcals for the bout To increase the force or power setting by One hundredeth kp or watt press 7 and Decrease by one hundredeth press 4
