HARRY DICKERSON BVSC, MS, PHD ASSOCIATE DEAN UGA COLLEGE OF VETERINARY MEDICINE Harry Dickerson BVSc, MS, PhD is the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Affairs and Director of the Veterinary Medical Experiment Station at the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine, positions he has served since 1997. Dr. Dickerson is Professor of Infectious Diseases and his research interests are molecular parasitology and comparative immunology. His work focuses on the mechanisms of adaptive immune responses of bony fishes to infection, largely the mechanisms of response to the common protozoal parasite, Ichthyophthirius multifiliis. Dr. Dickerson received his veterinary degree in 1977 from the Onderstepoort Faculty of Veteri- nary Science at Pretoria University in South Africa and practiced large and small animal medi- cine and surgery in South Africa and the U.S. until 1980. He received his MS and PhD degrees in microbiology at UGA in 1982 and 1985, respectively. After postdoctoral training at the UGA Department of Genetics he joined the faculty of the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. As Professor and Associate Dean, Dr. Dickerson has been in integral in promoting research in the veterinary profession and encouraging veterinary students to explore research careers through the development of student training programs and research symposia. Dr. Dickerson is a member of and has served in leadership positions in several professional organizations, recently as chair of the American Veterinary Medical Association Council of Research form 2013-2015.
