Reduce costs andbalance budget!• AIChE and ACS agreed to pursue cooperative programs ingovernment relations, sustainability, biological engineering, chemicalsafety etc. Key collaborations in career development, K-12outreach, and minority and womens issues. Open forum @ AIChEBoard Spring Meeting to discuss plans for cooperative programsand additional benefits to members (Sunday, April 25, 4:30-5:30 pm,New Orleans)• AIChE and ASME partnered to deliver professional training soAIChE members enjoy discounted access to greatly expandedportfolio of courses. AIChE guide content/ASME integrate costs tosignificantly improving financial performance of training activities.AIChE has Morphed and Evolved to Meet Today’s Needs!

What happened in Tulsa Section• Active section with > 450 members in 2000• Core group of members were active in leadership• Monthly dinner meetings with 5-15 regular attendance• Cont Ed via short courses• Support student section• Student participation in leadership core• Students graduated/left area - local members more focused on jobs (2006)• Significant reduction in section activity (2007-2009)• Attended Local Section meeting in Nashville (2009)• Contacted last known leader and retrieved checkbook and contacted otherChE’s to restart meetings– 2 members at first (Ken May involved as treasurer)– National helped us develop current member list, we filed annual report, organizedchecking account and issued quarterly newsletters– Started holding quarterly lunch meetings (10 members attending)– Held new elections involving core local members (three officers)– Still struggling to keep things going; requires long term commitment
