  2. 2. In the 1970’s we used to have public information films to highlight safeguarding issues. 2
  3. 3. Many people saw them as we only had three channels and one television in the house. 3
  4. 4. Now, we have multiple channels and public information films are no longer broadcast. 4
  5. 5. Think about today. In the home children have access to many media devices that can connect to the internet. 5
  6. 6. Back in the 1970’s, we had issues around stranger danger. 6
  7. 7. If paedophiles wanted to approach children, they would go to places such as parks, fairs etc. However, now they can go online and connect with children using false profiles. 7
  8. 8. A few years ago, we would go online and type in a web address. 8
  9. 9. However, now many children go online and press on an App. Can you guess any of these? 9

  15. 15. We can- Talk to our child – find out what they are doing Make rules – no tech in their bedroom Manage screen time – limit their time on tech Digital family time – share time using tech together 15

  17. 17. Filtering – you can manage your home broadband into your home Parental settings can be put on devices Kid Friendly – Apps and devices aimed at children Keystroke/GPS – Parental monitoring devices 17

  20. 20. You Tube Kids is a great alternative to the standard You Tube 20
  21. 21. If your child has a mobile phone, ask the provider for parental controls, filtering etc. 21
