  1. 1. Papa's Garden
  2. 2. Papa's Garden We build the first Natural Food Education Camp from Romania.
  3. 3. Papa's Garden Why do we do this? Nowadays eating habits costs us more than we are aware of and it's not just about the food itself it's also about the cost of producing it and the cost of the food loss we generate. The purpose of Papa’s Garden is to educate and create awareness about our eating and food consumption habits and where the food comes from. Papa’s Garden is not just about gardening it’s about the living and eating experience itself and learning what food is really about.
  4. 4. Papa’s Garden was born from my father’s passion for gardening and nature. He grew up in the countryside of Romania, where he learned gardening from his parents. For the last 20 years he dedicated his free time to his own garden and being connected with the nature. Gardening for my father is more than just a passion, is a way to keep us healthy. He grows vegetables and fruits, prepares his own seeds for the next agricultural crop and uses local recipes to make gems and pickle vegetables for the winter. Papa's Garden How everything started
  5. 5. The garden has 3000 square meters with the capacity of growing a big range of organic veggies for 20 people without using any kind of fertiliser. In the last few years my father has started to cultivate fruit trees and seasonal fruits like strawberries and grapes. Papa's Garden
  6. 6. Currently there is a small traditional cottage constructed a longtime ago from soil mixed with straw. With every winter, the cottage becomes less stable due to moisture and temperature. For now, my father is using it as a storage space for his gardening tools.
  7. 7. Our vision is to build an eco house in the garden for approx. 15 people and provide a sterling countryside living experience where people can come and spend a lovely time in the nature. The entire place will function as an educational space where people will learn about gardening, fishing, cooking and sustainable ways of living. We will welcome you to live and work in the garden with our family during the agricultural season, which is about 7 months long in Romania (spring, summer and fall). Papa's Garden Vision
  8. 8. You will learn about gardening and the entire process of growing vegetables, starting with the sowing season through to the harvest season. This includes preparing the soil, planting the seeds, nurturing the plants, harvesting the produce and cooking fresh meals. What you'll do
  9. 9. Fishing is another great activity you can fully enjoy but only during the fishing season. Danube Delta has a very tasty fish and some incredible traditional recipes. My father is a big fish lover. He fishes as a hobby and he loves to cook the fish he catches, especially with friends and family.
  10. 10. My father still uses my Mom’s recipe to prepare the veggies for the winter. He can pickle almost every vegetable from the garden: tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, peppers, cauliflower, cabbage and zucchini. He also makes delicious jams and compotes with the fruits who grows in our fruit threes.
  11. 11. Papa’s Garden is located just outside of Tulcea, a small touristic city in the southeast of Romania with a long and impressive history. First settled in the 7th century BC by the Dacians, Tulcea was in turn conquered and developed by the Romans, Byzantines, Genoese, and Ottoman empires. Where is located You can easily get into the city by crossing the river. Tulcea is a small, clean and quiet town full of tourists during the summer. There are nice museums, parks, bars and a big aquarium that shows you the entire history of Danube Delta.
  12. 12. Tulcea is situated at the entrance to the vast Danube Delta, an area of unparalleled natural beauty. The city has throughout history been an important seaport, and on the other side of the Danube River you can find small villages all across the Delta. The city
  13. 13. Step into the wild and get ready to enjoy the most beautiful and adventurous experience nature can offer you. Visit the Danube Delta and witness the most spectacular landscapes provided by the world’s third-richest biosphere reservation in terms of biodiversity, after Australia’s Great Barrier Reef and Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands. Surroundings - Danube Delta
  14. 14. The Danube Delta is not only the second largest delta on the planet, but also the most preserved one on the European continent. It is home to a great number of animals and plants and it contains 25 types of ecosystems, some of them strictly protected. But what makes Delta unique are its incredible people from small villages who fully enjoy the country side living experience. Danube Delta Danube Delta

  17. 17. Papa's Garden What we need
  18. 18. In order to take this from the concept stage and turn our father’s passion into a successful eco-tourism venture, we need you to get involved. Currently we're working on the crowdfunding campaign and looking for some other sources of investment like Social CSR programs and EU Founds. The first objective is to create an innovative eco house project and prepare the Papa's Garden concept. For financing the project we're planning to crowd fund the money - 50.000 Euro that will cover: - Materials necessary for building the house for approx. 15 people - Installation of a clean, drinking water system - Solar panels or other eco solution for electricity - Equipment in the kitchen - Furniture Papa's Garden
  19. 19. The project goal for 2015 consists of running a successful crowdfunding campaign, building the house and taking care of the garden. Starting with 2016 the house will be ready to welcome its guests. There are two main reasons for crowdfunding the money: 1. The family financial situation does not allow us to build the house by our own; 2. Sharing the idea will help us validate it and see people’s interests in having such an experience. In this crowdfunding preparatory stage, we're looking ONLY to validate the idea. By simply asking for your feedback, will let the crowd decide how awesome is it. Your thoughts will help us improve the concept and create value for the donors, therefore we're here to listen :) Papa's Garden
