  5. 5. • Two kindred spirits, passionate about Lake Wichita, meet at the WF Parks Board meeting and start working together. Parks Board passed resolution to request the City Council to establish a committee on Lake Wichita. Parks Board Jan 2013
  6. 6. May 7, 2013 Lake Wichita Study Committee established by WF City Council and given 18 months to: Review various issues related to Lake Wichita and make recommendations to the City Council
  7. 7. • Committee members reviewed many historical documents including: – History of Lake Wichita – Lake Wichita Improvement Study - 1991 – Lake Wichita Alive! – 1994 – Past TPWD fisheries management reports – Various internal City documents about water rights, zoning, ordinances, park plans etc. Review History

  10. 10. • August 21, 2013 we met with representatives from the Tulsa District of the Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Wichita • That pre-application meeting included discussion on permitting and best practices • Met with USACE staff and Chief in Tulsa on April 30, 2014 Researched Permitting

  12. 12. • 115 years of siltation and lowering spillway have greatly diminished storage capacity • We must excavate the lake, not hydraulic dredge • Remove ~8million cu yds., 4’ ave depth increase • Increase storage capacity from 4,100 to 9,600ac-ft Fixing the Lake-Excavation
