In his keynote for the European Platform Arts Exchange at the Tropeninstituut in Amsterdam, Dutch born social media watcher Henk van Ess opened his keynote with a real megaphone, reading out loud boring tweets of cultural organizations around the world. "Noticing how some people use social media, I hear a megaphone , not a personal voice. It's mass media versus social me-dia. #Fail by Design?"
Henk advocates cultural organizations to handpick their audience and learn social filtering techniques how to do so.
In the first part of the Keynote, Henk analyzes thousands of tweets of cultural organizations, claiming that they are a Calendar or A Robot - they dont seem to be a human.
In the second part he shows 48 hours old examples of crowd sourcing projects that were crowd funded. What worked and what not? Why?
The third pard "Handpicking your Audience" is a workshop about how to find very specific people of very specific nature.
