  1. 1. Circulatory systemThe things inside your body
  2. 2. The circulatory system consist on..• The heart…
  3. 3. • Blood vessels..
  4. 4. • Blood…
  5. 5. The pulmonary circuit• The pulmonary circuit carries blood to the lungs to be oxygenated and then back to the heart. In the lungs, carbon dioxide is removed from the blood, and oxygen taken up by the haemoglobin in the red blood cells.
  6. 6. Systematic circuit• The systemic circuit carries blood around the body to deliver the oxygen and returns de- oxygenated blood to the heart. Blood also carries nutrients and waste.
  7. 7. The Heart!• The heart is seen from the front in the diagram. So the right side of the heart is shown on the left of the diagram. The left side is on the right side of the diagram.• The heart is a muscular pump.
  8. 8. It also have chambers which are the..• Right and left atrium that collects blood• Right and left ventricle that pumps out blood
  9. 9. Heart• Valves prevent the blood from flowing backwards.• The septum separates the two sides of the heart.• The right side of the heart pumps de-oxygenated blood (blood not containing oxygen) to the lungs to pick up oxygen. The left side of the heart pumps the oxygenated blood from the lungs around the rest of the body
  10. 10. IS BLO OD?W HAT 80% WATER 20% SOLID
  11. 11. 3 TYPE OF BLOOD CELLSLATELETSED BLOOD CELLS
  12. 12. Plateletselp the blood to clot. Clotting stops theblood from flowing out of the body whena vein or artery is broken
  13. 13. RED BLOOD CELLed blood cells are the most plentiful. In fact, ahealthy adult has about 35 trillion of them. Thebody creates these cells at a rate of about 2.4million a second, and they each have a life spanof about 120 days.
  14. 14. WHITE BLOOD CELLhen the body is fighting off infection, it makesthem in ever-increasing numbers. Still, compared to the number of red blood cells inthe body, the number of white blood cells islow. Most healthy adults have about 700 timesas many red blood cells as white ones
  15. 15. ArteriesHeart pumps blood out through onemain artery called the dorsal aorta. It divides and branches out intomany small arteries. It carriesoxygenated blood from the heart tothe rest of the body.
  16. 16. CapillariesCapillary release their oxygenwhich passes through the wall andinto the surrounding tissue. Thetissue releases its waste products, like carbon dioxide, which passesthrough the wall and into the redblood cells.
  17. 17. VeinsVeins have three layers: anouter layer of tissue, musclein the middle, and a smoothinner layer of epithelial cells.Veins transport waste-richblood back to the lungs andheart. It is important that thewaste-rich blood keepsmoving in the proper directionand not be allowed to flowbackward.
