Reasons Why Yoga For Diabetes Is Effective In Controlling Blood Sugar

  1. 1. One important factor that causes blood sugars to be sohard to manage is stress. That is one reason why yoga for diabetes is effective. It encourages relaxation which relieves stress and ultimately improves the blood sugar level for diabetics.
  2. 2. When the pancreas for some reason stops workingefficiently, or sometimes no longer works at all, diabetes is the result. The movement of the abdominal muscles during the relaxation and contraction of these exercises helps to stimulate the pancreas.
  3. 3. Different postures act in different ways to help thediabetic enjoy better health. All are beneficial, however.One way they help is through the deep breathing which helps the body take in more oxygen. Anytime there is more oxygen present, organs work more efficiently.
  4. 4. Four sets of Asana poses were used in a study on fortyvolunteers. They were given blood tests at the end. These tests showed that the sensitivity of the pancreas toglucose levels was greatly improved, which improves sugar control.
  5. 5. Several different poses were used in the study. These were poses that are common and easy. All the included poses were grouped in pairs and rotated over the period of the study. They were repeated every five days in a random pattern.
  6. 6. Other poses that have been show to help with blood sugar control are the sun salutation pose, the Pranayama, and the Yoga Nidra pose. It is believed the meditation used during them is a big part of the reason they are so effective for the diabetic.
  7. 7. These poses also help with weight loss, which in itself is a great benefit in controlling blood sugar levels. Also,studies have shown that it also helps lower cortisol levels, which is a big factor in diabetic control.
  8. 8. Both formal and informal studies show that yoga fordiabetes is effective in making sugar control easier. Sincethe performance of the poses is so easy, and since there are no costs incurred in getting started, it is a nearly perfect exercise for helping the diabetic control blood sugar.
