• I would like to thank the board for this opportunity to address you. Today I will present to you a way to help move XYZ into the next phase of technological advancement.
• I would like to introduce to you…the USB flash drive! This technological innovation will help improve the workload here at XYZ Corporation.
• Here at XYZ we have a great need for this innovation. 1 st it is becoming very inconvenient to move large amounts of data from place to place. 2 nd the floppy disks some of the workers use cannot hold much data. 3 rd the Zip disks utilized by upper management is very expensive.
• The research of Mackrill & Taylor, 2008 showed that by using the US flash drive there was… 1 st a significant reduction in the amount of paper used to transport data; 2 nd that data was easily shared with others; 3 rd that using the USB flash drive was relatively inexpensive.
• The development of the USB flash drive was demonstrated by Koon in 2005. It was shown that the USB flash drive was the data storage device preferred by most users. We should also take into consideration that the new PCs we have ordered will have the floppy drive eliminated.
• The commercialization of this innovation is demonstrated in that the USB flash drive is distributed in large varieties of data capacities and appearance.
• I would like to share with you the history of the USB flash drive. The USB flash drive was invented in the late 1990s by Netac Technology. This was reported on the Netac Official site.
• Although the USB flash drive was invented by Netac Technology…it was manufactured and sold by Trek Technology in 2000.
• By 2002 the USB flash drive is manufactured by other companies making it competitive in the market and known in the world as the data storage device of choice.
• Today the adoption of the USB flash drive is widespread all over the world. The cost has drastically decreased because it is manufactured by many companies. This device has become the easiest way to store and transport data files.
• I am sure you want to know…has there been a growth in the shipping and profits of this product? I can assure…there has been!
• According to the findings of ARC Technica, you can see by this chart there has been a steady increase in the number of USB flash drive shipped per year. Except for our company most people have a basic flash drive in their pocket, purse, or on their key chain.
• ARS Technica also reports that the USB flash drive has shown continued growth in profits. Profit analyst, Joseph Unsworth reported in 2007 that the USB flash drive showed a compound annual growth rate of 66% over five years.
• The early adopters of the USB flash drive was the professionals that relied heavily on and carried large amounts of data with them. They wanted something easier…just like we do here at XYZ.
• I know that their will be some skeptics here at the XYZ corporation…skeptical about the new computer that only come with USB ports; having to learn a new technological “toy”…but just allow me to completely show you how this innovation will be the answer we are looking for to move forward!
• I am aware that some may want the uncertainty of this innovation removed…will this really help our company; is it profitable; is ti really a technological product that will help?
• So why is the USB flash drive the best choice for our company? For many reasons… 1. The relative advantages of using this innovation - like saving on the amount of money spent of paper! 2. The company should consider the USB flash drive as the “better” choice to store data 3. The advantages of not carrying large amounts of important data around decreasing the exposure of our company secrets. The relative low cost of using this innovation. Since this product was adopted in 2000 the price has decreased drastically As you know ABC is almost onboard with switching to the USB drives…we want to be the one that other companies observe as the “technological savvy” corporation!
• Allow me to sum this all up for you…
• The USB flash drive can redefine our lives by being the easy to carry digital storage device of choice!
• The USB flash drive can clarify our corporation by offering a cost effective way to both store and transport our data files.
• The rationalization of the USB flash drive for our corporation is that it was created as a tool for replacing the cumbersome floppy disc – and the new computers only have USB ports.
• Thank you board of directors for this opportunity. I hope you decide on this great innovative product for our corporation. We are highly intelligent business minded individuals. The USB flash drive will meet our needs…we can’t lose!
