This started afashion for European upper- and middle-class menwhich lasted until the French Revolution. By the 19thcentury, men started spending less time on their hair.As a result, men started wearing their hair short. Inthe 20th century, mens hair continued to be shortand most men were clean shaven. In the 1960s, theyounger generation started a trend towards longerhair. The Beatle Haircut, also known as the mop-topbecause of its resemblance to a mop, was named forand popularised by the Beatles. As a result of theBeatles popularity, the haircut was very populararound the world between 1964-1966. This hairstylealso resulted in real-hair and plastic wigs that wereworn for fun.
