library needs to maintain a presence in social media venues, such as Twitter, Flickr, YouTube,
MySpace and Facebook. Content on the South Carolina State Library’s pages will be maintained
by library staff. Sites that are linked to our sites are not regularly monitored or maintained by
on many social media sites. The State Library social media pages may be linked to other such
pages which are not created or maintained by the South Carolina State Library. The South
Carolina State Library will regularly review social media friend/follower requests.
Requirements & Guidelines - The Library may give priority to accepting friend/follower
requests and submitting friend/follower requests to individuals and/or organizations that meet
at least one of the following criteria:
• News media organizations
• Publishers, writers and illustrators
• Library program presenters
• Known library card holders
• South Carolina State Library (or its partners’) sponsored groups
Friends’/followers’ pages should not violate any library policies. The Library
reserves the right to remove any friend/follower from its social networking page(s).
