  3. 3. 3Prerequisities  Windows Server 2008 R2  IIS7  ASP .NET 4Creation of a new Web site on IISBefore you will start installation of ScrumDesk API you need to ensure that at least one web site exists onyour IIS server. Usually IIS server contains Default Web Site but if it does not you need to create your ownsite.1. Open Internet Information Services Manager (Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tools)2.   4. 4. 43. Enter Site name and click on Select button to choose Application pool. You can select existing or your own application pool but you need to choose pool that uses ASP. NET v4.04. Enter physical path to folder where you will install ScrumDesk API (it can be changed afterwards). Choose http binding type (we do not support https yet). Enter port number that is not used by another web site. (Ensure that chosen port is not blocked by your firewall) ©ScrumDesk, 2008-2011 www.scrumdesk.com
  5. 5. 5ScrumDesk API installation1. Download ScrumDesk API installation from www.scrumdesk.com and save it on your server2. Execute setup.exe and click Next button3. Select Site that exists on your IIS. See chapter Creating of a new Web site on IIS if you want to create a new web site. Enter name of the virtual directory. This will be part of service URL.   7. 7. 7ConfigurationIn order to connect to ScrumDesk database you need to update connection string in web.config file that isstored in ScrumDesk API installation folder.1. Find and open web.config in any editor2. Find xml tag <connectionStrings>. It contains one connection string with name ScrumDeskEntities3. Replace following attributes data source – it is the address to the SQL server itself, in either a domain type of construction (like:MyServer.Com), or an IP address (like: 198.12.198.7) initial catalog – it is name of your ScrumDesk database user id – it is SQL server user that can access your ScrumDesk DB password – it is password of the userTest installation in browserYou can test your installation in any browser. Enter URL of your service to the browser. Format of URL ishttp://address_of_your_server:port_number/WebAPI/ScrumDeskService.svc. Enter name of yourScrumDesk database, ScrumDesk user (format: ScrumDeskDatabaseUser) and password to theauthentication dialog and you should see response from ScrumDesk service. ©ScrumDesk, 2008-2011 www.scrumdesk.com
