1. School Vision: Teaming and/or teacher departmentalization practices that 5th grade teachers implement
help promote all students to succeed in the elementary to middle school transition process.
School Goal: Teaming will empower students be successful in middle school transition by helping lower
the number of tardy students, improving test scores, lowering the number of disciplinary referrals, and
improving the success in AP/GT classes. These practices foster the concept of team, rigor, and
responsibility on the part of the students and the teachers. These practices foster a sense of
accountability and vertical alignment between 5th grade and 6th grade teachers/curriculum.
All of the following activities are in response to the concept of 5th grade students teaming instead of being
in a self-contained classroom setting.
