Parcel Fabric in the LGIM Parcels are managed with a series of overlapping polygons (based onType field in the Parcels subclass): Active parcels Lots (Historic lot lines) Buildings (footprints) Condos Subdivisions Encumbrances Historic parcels Tax Parcel Editing Template uses definition queries to segregateaccordingly. However, at 10.1 sp1 these properties are stored in a layer file makingthem easier to incorporate with your organizations mapping needs. The LGIM has many of the necessary domains and additional attributesbuilt-in which eases the task of data sharing. What Is a Parcel Fabric? Specific data set for storage, maintenance and editing of parcels (new at V10) – LGIM! Stores a continuous surface of connected parcels. Comprised of interrelated point, line, or polygon features and/or plans. Island parcels and spatial voids across ROWs use connection lines for joining to the seamlessfabric. Because each and every parcel is either joined or connected, a seamless network ofconnected parcel boundaries, or parcel fabric, is formed. Connection lines as well as parcel points can be shared between adjacent parcel boundaries toestablish connectivity and internally maintain the topology of the network. Parcel points are automatically generated at the endpoints of parcel lines and definethe geometry of the parcel. Parcel points can also be “linked” to control points forpositional accuracy.
Parcel Fabric Highlights More efficient model overall. Less redundancy by managing parcel features in onelocation. Improved accuracy over time (as more control is added). Matching schemas with neighboring organizations (seamless data sharing). Lots of templates and dashboards to plug into are emerging at ArcGIS.com. Improved history management (can decide what to keep as historic). Manage Associated layers like Zoning with a Feature Adjustment. Ability to store legal description with the tax parcel.Limitations Still evolving. Lots of changes with 10.1 release (mostly for the better!). Editing tools / work flows not very intuitive out-of-the-box. Specific automated workflows available at SP 1! Value Analysis Dashboard Tax Parcel Viewer Tax Map Book Difficult to migrate some data (lots, encumbrances, dimension anno). Complex data model. Some training may be necessary.
