The Beginning<br />The FFA was founded in 1928, and was then known as the Future Farmers of America, and it promoted agricultural education.<br />Established at the National Livestock Judging Contest by 33 students from 18 states.<br />The first FFA national convention was held in Kansas City, where Leslie Applegate was elected president.<br />
  3. 3. <ul><li>Official colors: National Blue & Corn Gold</li></li></ul><li>FFA Creed<br />1930- Original creed written by Edwin O. Grover.<br />Second creed was written by E.M. Tiffany, who was never able to attend a FFA convention. The creed underwent 2 revision, and is used currently.<br />

The Middle Ages<br />1953- Marks the silver anniversary of the founding for the FFA, and a commemorative postage stamp was introduced.<br />In 1959, the National FFA Center was established in Alexandria, Virginia. George Washington formally owned the land.<br />1965- The FFA annexes the New Farmers of America .<br />
  5. 5. By 1969 women were able to join the FFA. <br />1971- The FFA Alumni Association is founded.<br />The Alumni Association currently has 42,000 members, and keeps former FFA members involved in local chapters.<br />
  6. 6. Recently…<br />1998- The FFA Center was moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. <br />1999- The FFA national convention was held in Louisville, Kentucky. It was held in Louisville through 2005.<br />

  8. 8. FFA manual was translated into Spanish in 2000. <br />States such as Texas and California have a large Latino population. The translated manual helps chapters overcome language barriers at competitions and conventions.<br />
