  4. 4. <ul><li>Today the area has a strong institutional and historic character, and is a hub of both commercial and educational activity for Lahore. The area is used and frequented by a wide range of user groups. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Some fundamental questions… <ul><li>Who does the city essentially ‘ belong ’ to? </li></ul><ul><li>What are the current ‘problems’ or ‘shortfalls’ of the area if any? </li></ul><ul><li>‘ Who ’ are the users and eventual beneficiaries of the regeneration of these spaces? </li></ul>

Existing Usage <ul><li>There is a sharp contrast in activity types between weekdays and holidays: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Use on weekdays : the commercial zone of Anarkali bazar and the educational and institutional zone, with some of the city’s major traffic arteries passing through the area </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>On Sundays and holidays: the area’s use changes to leisure (e.g. Anarkali book bazaar, Anarkali landa market, Nasir bagh cricket activity) </li></ul></ul>
