1. GM India's new engine plant at
Talegaon goes onstream
• General Motors India today said it inaugurated a
new engine production facility at Talegaon , near
Pune , in Maharashtra.
• The new engine plant will produce engines for
small passenger cars manufactured by GM in
India
• The state-of-the-art facility represents an
investment of over USD 230 million. It has an
initial annual production capacity of 160,000
engines
2. Auto cos on a high again, sales zoom

• CAR sales zoomed 38% with 1.82 lakh vehicles
being sold in October this year
• New cars such as Maruti Suzuki’s revamped
WagonR, Ford’s Figo, Polo from Volkswagen ,

3. Upward pressure on interest rates
from inflation: PNB
• The country's second largest state -run lender,
Punjab National Bank, today said interest rates
will face upward pressure, if inflation remains
at elevated level.
• Against over 8 per cent inflation now, savings
deposits fetch 3.5 per cent interests, while
fixed deposits yield 6-7.5 per cent interest
rates.
4. IIFB course for bank staff
• The Indian Institute of Banking and Finance
(IIFB) has launched a course in customer
services and standards for frontline bank
employees .
• Bankers will be introduced to how they can
increase the efficiency of these services. There
would be a half-yearly exam.
5. Fed official sounds buyout bubble
alarm
• The new round of cash the Federal Reserve is
pumping into the US economy to spur job
growth could create bubbles that do the very
opposite, some Fed officials are warning.
6. Greece must focus on debt targets:

• Greece must focus on meeting targets to cut its
budget deficit
• any renegotiation of the terms of EU/IMF loans
would harm its credibility.

7. Google and Facebook rivalry takes

• The relationship between the two Internet

confrontational, and the battle will likely
intensify on Monday when Facebook is
expected to introduce a revamped version of
its messaging technology that could pose a
challenge to Google's Gmail.
