Private Label Brand: Private label products or services are typically those manufactured or provided by one company for offer under another companys brand. They are often positioned as lower cost alternatives to regional, national or international brands. Private brands already account for close to 7% of modern trade sales in India, compared to 1% in China, according to market researcher Nielsens latest survey that covers over 50 countries.
  3. 3.  Globally, own label brands contribute to 17 percent of retail sales with a growth of 5 percent per annum. International retailers like Wal-Mart of USA and Tesco of UK have 40 percent and 55 percent own label brands representation in their stores, respectively.
