What materials were used to create the "Sound wave”?

The Sound Wave sculpture was created only out of melted vinyl records!

What was the process of creating the sound wave?
Apart from the intricate planning for making the “Sound Wave” Sculpture, (drawing designs, drafting schedules, finding materials for the sculpture, accommodation etc) the process of making it is quite tedious. Jean Shin had to lay out a base and then draft a structure for the wave. After he did this he placed old vinyl records and he melted them, gluing each record with another. Gradually he made a wave form with all the melted vinyl records
The resulting structure speaks to the inevitable waves of technology that render each successive generation of recordable media obsolete. The piece also aims to physically manifest the ephemerality of music as well as one man’s musical tastes, as represented by his personal record collection.
The artefact looks like a wave from the sea, but then when you look at it closer you can tell that the wave is made up of records and this is where the name comes from. ‘Sound Wave’.
