An electronic device installed in a vehicle to enable the owner or a third party to track the vehicle's location, speed, odometer, distance, ignition status, etc features. Most modern vehicle tracking systems use Global Positioning System (GPS) modules for accurate location of the vehicle. Many systems also combine a communications component such as cellular or satellite transmitters to communicate the vehicle’s location to a remote user. Vehicle information can be viewed on electronic maps via the Internet or specialized software. Components of Vehicle Tracking System • Server at base station. • In-vehicle GPS based VTS unit with communication modem. • Transmitters and receivers at base station and vehicle. • Digitized and geo-referenced maps. • Software to view the vehicle position and generate reports Highlights of the solution • GPS data is transmitted via GSM network. • Automatic polling at preset time intervals. • Current position/Travel route can be viewed on highly accurate, geo-referenced digital maps. • View multiple vehicles on the same screen.
