Q1b exam outline

 1. 1. Introduction
Introduce the product you are going to write about – give a brief description and title:
I am going to discuss the teaser trailer from my advanced portfolio in relation to audiencetheory. The teaser trailer was titled “Escape” and based around ideas taken from the film and trailer “Shutter Island”.
2. 2. Main Body
Identify key feature of the concept you are going to apply and briefly outline the theory
Discuss audience –why are audiences important ?(money /business) –target audiences –
Audience’s expectations of your genre.
Identify audience theory –
e.g. Gratifications model –Blulmer & Katz / Hypodermic needle theory /Stuart Hall
Describe the theory
e.g. the hypodermic needle theory expects an audience to accept everything that they are told as fact. This involves a passive audience….
3. 3. Apply theory to your teaser trailer –making close reference to your product
–and discuss how your product support /challenges it
According to Blulmer & Katz’s gratification’s model there are four reasons why an audience may choose to watch a film. Three of these areas could apply to my teaser. Personal identity is possible the most likely since we tackle relationships and other issues that affect young people. 4. 4. Conclusion
Conclude your essay referring again to the original question
In conclusion I think our teaser trailer looked very similar to the real media product “Shutter Island”. I believe that the creative decisions mentioned above have helped create a product that could easily reach its intended target audience as …..
In support of Stuart Hall’s theory we have included enough codes to appeal to an audience who will be intrigued and want to watch the whole film.
