  1. 1. A note to Primary Parents regarding GOOD FRIDAY – April 18th Our Good Friday Liturgy begins and ends quietly, it is not a mass, but a liturgy with Holy Communion. As in previous years our eighth grade students will re-enact the Passion of Our Lord and all are welcome to join us for this service. The Lord’s Passion is a powerful experience, seeing the re- enactment of Jesus carrying the Cross, falling, being “nailed” to the Cross and giving up his life has brought tears to the eyes of many within the congregation, even our young students. We hope all will join us for this service, but if you feel that your child is too young and may not be ready to The Sacred Paschal Triduum Christians believe that at one moment in time, everything changed forever. That came on Holy Thursday, the night before Jesus died, when he sat down with his disciples for the Passover meal. Instead of bitter herbs and a lamb, he gave them bread and said, “This is my body,” and a cup of wine saying, “This is my Blood.” Shortly after this Passover meal, on Good Friday, Jesus was arrested, scourged, died on a Cross, and was buried. Good Friday commemorates the Crucifixion, Death, and burial of Christ Jesus. Three days later his tomb was empty. God had raised Jesus from the dead. Easter Sunday crowns the Triduum celebrating the Resurrection of the Lord. The New Testament refers to Jesus numerous times as the Lamb of God. He made the Passover radically new. The blood came not from an unblemished lamb, but from the innocent Son of God. The freedom won by this sacrifice is not just movement from one land to another, but from sin and death into life everlasting. Alleluia! Alleluia!! Alleluia!!
