  3. 3. On behalf of the Franciscan Friars, our parish staff and volunteer ministers, welcome to Mission San Luis Rey Parish!<br />
  4. 4. We are a parish family in the tradition of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi.<br />
  5. 5. The Franciscan tradition emphasizes the joy of the Risen Lord, the inherent dignity of every person, and respect for all of God’s creation.<br />
  6. 6. Franciscan Friars have staffed the Mission and its parish almost continuously ever since its founding in 1798.<br />
  7. 7. Today, our parish family is large and diverse, with members from all walks of life, every age group and culture. We believe that this diversity is a great gift and grace to us and we celebrate it.<br />
  8. 8. In addition to our weekend liturgies, we offer a full Religious Education program for children, youth, and adults with Bible Study, RCIA and programs that “Welcome Home” Catholics that have been away for a while. <br />
  9. 9.  Our parish school, Old Mission Montessori School, is one of just two Catholic elementary programs on the West Coast which offers a quality Catholic education in the highly acclaimed Montessori method….<br />
  10. 10. We have more than 60 different groups in the parish involved in everything from Scripture study and faith sharing to community service projects.<br />
