What is the plot?• MI6 agents James Bond and Eve assist on a mission in Turkey to recover a computer hard drive stolen from a murdered MI6 agent that contains details of almost all undercover NATO agents in terrorist organisations. Bond and Eve chase the killer, mercenary Patrice, and attempt to recover the disk. During the chase, Bond is shot in the shoulder. While fighting Patrice, Bond is accidentally shot by Eve and is later considered "missing, presumed killed".

Pressure to do well at box office• Box Office:Has a hard target to beat as the previous film, “Quantum of Solace” smashed James Bond box-office records.Daniel Craigs third outing as 007 has some advantages though: it will face less competition at the box- office.Will it have a short run time will allow more showings at theatres, or a longer running time?

Distribution: advertising• Sony aggressively marketed the film over two months, and Daniel Craigs numerous endorsement deals have kept his public profile strong leading up to the release.• Still, all these marketing and publicity efforts pale in comparison to the organic buzz that formed around "Skyfall." The presence of director Sam Mendes and Oscar winner Javier Bardem gave the project an elevated pedigree, and early response to the film ranged from strong to wildly positive.

  16. 16. Exhibition: Box office• It was the first James Bond film to be screened in IMAX venues,.• Skyfall has earned $531.5 million worldwide. On its opening weekend, it earned $80.6 million from 25 markets• In the UK the film grossed £37.2 million on its opening 7 days, marking it the second-highest Friday-to-Sunday debut ever behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.•

Exhibition• It also achieved the second-highest IMAX debut ever behind The Dark Knight Rises.• The film set a record for the highest seven-day gross with £37.2 million ($59.9 million), surpassing previous record holder Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (£35.7 million. By 8 November 2012, the film had earned over $91 million to become the highest grossing film of 2012 in the UK.

  20. 20. Production: Special effects• When Bond uses a motorbike to vault from a jetty onto two cargo ships. A stunt performer rode a motorbike up a ramp, but in the edit, the shot didn’t look very dramatic.• In post production we had to disguise the ramp and make it look like Bond was landing on a cargo ship full of wooden boxes. We shot a lot of practical cargo elements as reference, modelled all the cargo and debris in 3D, and hand-animated objects as the bike drove through.”• A stunt performer was used for Camille (Olga Kurylenko) for a gruesome boat-to-boat collision. “It was too dangerous to film with Olga in the boat, so it was filmed with a stunt girl, but her face at one point filled the screen,” says Lockwood. “To alter this Kevin filmed Olga doing the action on dry land, against green-screen, and then we tracked her into the boat.”

COCA COLA• Coca-Cola launched a global TV campaign for Coke Zero featuring music by White Stripes frontman Jack White that appears in the film, and which mimics the intro to a James Bond movie• Coca cola said: "The new edgier Bond persona is the ultimate embodiment of the ‘Coke Zero’ brand personality, and is expected to deepen the brand’s engagement with its core target audience of 20 something men." Coca-Cola jumped on the Quantum of Solace bandwagon and slapped the classic 007 gunbarrel logo on their bottles to create Coca-Cola Zero Zero 7.• The bottles are expected to be released around the same time as the movie.

Distribution: Promotion: Tie-ins with the film• Sony launched a TV ad campaign featuring Daniel Craig as James Bond to promote its high definition televisions in a tie-in with Quantum of Solace.• It was timed to heighten public interest in the launch - the campaign ran on TV and cinema and print ads ran in-store where Sony products are sold.• As part of the film tie-up Sony launched an official 007 Vaio laptop, called the Bond Z Series, in selected stores.
