Within this study, students researched and read literature about the history of our great nation, the United State of America, as well as interviewed relatives via email, videotape, in person, other. </li></ul><ul><li>With this information, each student either produced a movie, using Windows Movie Maker, or created a Scrapbook which included information about themselves, family members, their own family traditions/customs versus their nationality's traditions/customs, and when/why their nationality came to America. Each student then wrote a persuasive book reviews and created a movie release to create interest throughout our school. The movie releases created by creative stations were then viewed by the school on our school morning show. Students at Bascomb were encouraged to check out their book in the library. They take the AR tests on the books they read. The students contribute to summaries of the books. The teacher composes fill in the blanks summaries of the books. The students then fill in the blanks. They have researched costs associated with the trip and taken in to consideration how following a budget affects some of the decisions they have to make. Our capstone project is a culmination of the use of many different forms of technology. They chose a theme and created a Photo Story about how geometry is used. Ex: Geometry in the Kitchen </li></ul><ul><li>Contact Information : [email_address] </li></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul><ul><li>Station: 12 Title : “Student Helping Students - Promoting Student Achievement Through Good Nutrition” </li></ul><ul><li>Name : Betty Smith School: Knox ES Grade : Fourth </li></ul><ul><li>Focus Subject: Language Arts </li></ul><ul><li>Summary of Project : 4th grade students (both special ed and regular ed) worked cooperatively with the cafeteria staff to launch a school wide emphasis on the importance of breakfast during National School Breakfast Week (March 2nd - 6th). Video presentations were made stressing the benefits of eating a school breakfast and were presented on Knox News. This was followed by a school wide survey regarding the number of times that students in grades K through 6th ate breakfast each week. The entire 4th grade assisted math resource students in the analysis of the data obtained in this survey, and students learned how to use Excel 2007 to create graphs. The week prior to the GCRCT, students presented their graphs and the results of the surveys on Knox News and stressed the importance of eating breakfast in order to maximize student performance on the GCRCT. Special education students also created informational and persuasive writings using information obtained in their study of good nutrition. The culminating activity involved the creation of brochures and flyers that emphasized the relationship between good nutrition and better school performance and included the breakfast menu for the week of CRCT. A flyer created by a special education student was selected to be sent home with each student in grades 1 through 6 to promote the importance of a good breakfast...especially during the week of CRCT. </li></ul><ul><li>Contact Information : [email_address] </li></ul>

They researched its effect on the westward expansion of the United States. They then took on roles of various individuals living during the Lewis & Clark expedition and wrote a play persuading others to either continue or not continue in the exploration of the United States. Students blogged, wrote and produced persuasive commercials and made power points to inform others of what they can do to help. An environmental speaker informed the students of recent activity in North Georgia and the negative effects that have taken place in the area's habitats. The students researched the social, economic, and cultural influences that volcanoes have on the surrounding communities. Students created real-life models and simulated volcanic eruptions to deepen their understanding and insights of volcanoes. Before beginning the project, students used Quia to survey the school in their favorite types of toys. The students then created a toy using geometry and the survey results.
