I am pleased to report that Real Estate Sales have continued on a positive trend and even though it is summer, we are still seeing sales inquiries come into the office. Barrier Island Sales on the Rise - How to set the stage for selling your home. Setting the stage for the sale of your home is important for many reasons, but one big reason that is especially important today, rather than in the past, is buyers typically start their home search online. This means your property is featured online through photos and video, and in photos and video your home must present itself well. This is the first impression a buyer will have on your home and you don’t want it to be the last. If you’re not sure where to start, here are a few easy steps to set the tone of your home so buyers will say, “I want that house!” One of the main things to do when putting your home on the market is to depersonalize it. DepeRsonLize Buyers want to walk into a home and imagine themselves and their belongings, not yours. One way to depersonalize your home is to declutter. A great way to start decluttering is to go through each room in your home, one at a time, and make a list of what you would like to put in storage or perhaps get rid of. This is also a great cleansing technique and will help your future move be easier in the long run. Next, take another walk through of your home and write down things that pop out which are sore to the eyes, such as chipped paint, cabinets that look worn or stains on the carpet. And last but not least, look around and make note of anything in your home that appears dark or drab, such as the paint color on the walls or dismal window treatments. Change those colors to something lighter. Your home should come across as inviting and cheerful. It’s amazing what little touch ups, like a fresh coat of paint or a new area rug will do to the look and feel of your home. These these fast and simple renovations could be the reason why someone decides to purchase your home and not someone else’s.
