The Hippo, Giraffe and the Elephant Three African Animals By Alex and Savannah
The Hippo <ul><li>The Hippopotamus lives in the South part of Africa. The Hippopotamus mostly lives on aquatic plants and fruits that fell from a tree near by. Sometimes The Hippopotamus will feed on small or injured animals. </li></ul><ul><li>The Hippopotamus spends most of their time lazing around by or in the water. </li></ul><ul><li>Even though the Hippo is mostly a plant </li></ul><ul><li>eater, he still has very large jaws and huge </li></ul><ul><li>tusks. The animal can still bit through </li></ul><ul><li>small boats and can rip a crocodile in two. </li></ul>
The Hippo <ul><li>The Hippopotamus has been around for more than 5 million years. They lived in Europe, Asia, Africa and the island of Madagascar but now they can only be found in Africa . </li></ul>
The Giraffe The Giraffe is a friendly giant, the giraffe is the tallest land mammal. Their neck can weigh up to 600 pounds, their legs are 6 feet long and their heart is 2 feet and 25 pounds. They also have very stylish blue tongues.
The Giraffe <ul><li>The Giraffe’s favorite tree is the Acacia. The Acacia tree contains a lot of water so the giraffe could go on without drinking water or getting thirsty. If he does get thirsty, he would bend down to a river or a stream and have a drink. But the bad thing with bending down is that it makes it easier for a predator like a crocodile to grab the neck and kill it. </li></ul>
Next We Talk About The Elephant <ul><li>Now we are talking about the elephant. The elephant has huge ears the shape of Africa. Both the male and the female have big tusks, wrinkled skin, a swayed back and a trunk that works like two fingers. An elephant can live up to 50 years old! When an elephant is born, it weighs about 117-330 pounds at birth and they are 26-45 inches too. </li></ul>
The Elephant <ul><li>The elephant becomes mature once he/she gets about to the age of 13-20 years of age. </li></ul><ul><li>An elephant has its own air conditioner that doesn’t use gas or pollutes in any way. It’s his ears </li></ul>
The Elephant The elephant has fears and is very sensitive. The elephant eat many kinds of foods but he is a vegetarian, he eats grass to fruits to leaves and bark. An elephants skin can be 2.54 cm thick. Even though their skin is very thick, They still spray water on themselves and roll around in the mud to protect themselves from biting insects and the sun.
