  • We chose this channel because of programmes like: Skins This Is England 86’ Misfits Inbetweeners All these programmes are about groups of friends which is partly true in ours aswell. According to Thinkbox: Audience Profiles, males aged 16-34 are likely to watch channels such as Bravo, Sky1, Sky Sports, Sky Sports News & Channel 4, seeing as our target audience is 18-40 we feel this fits in with the channel.
  • Settings: We chose Brentford as our setting as it’s a popular Lower League Club and we know the area around Brentford.

The Brief <ul><li>We chose soap opera because: </li></ul><ul><li>More creative freedom </li></ul><ul><li>Able to identify the exam criteria easily compared to documentary. </li></ul><ul><li>The idea we had when brainstorming was best suited as a soap and something we all were excited about doing. </li></ul>

Character Groups <ul><li>Alcoholic – Alone, fed up with life. </li></ul><ul><li>Devoted Father – Wife & two kids, not getting enough money to live from club, losing faith. </li></ul><ul><li>Die Hard Brentford Fan – Wife & 1 kid who is disabled, Mother and Sister who is also a die hard fan. </li></ul><ul><li>Ladies man – Younger than all the others, different woman every week, always flirting with everyone's wife's. </li></ul><ul><li>Dark Horse – Very quiet and reserved, but at football games he changes into an aggressive person. He has a dark past which included time in prison for multiple charges. Nothing is known about any family relations. </li></ul><ul><li>DF Wife – Materialistic, always wanting new items which her husband cannot afford, very bitchy. </li></ul><ul><li>Die hard fans Sister – butch lesbian, always up for a laugh and is the life of the group, loves a drink. </li></ul><ul><li>Local pub landlord – hard as nails, doesn’t take any rubbish in her pub. Knows the group well. </li></ul><ul><li>Sisters who live together – Eye candy for the male audience, the WAGS, always wanting to meet the players and always going out. The group (except the ladies man) find them irritating. </li></ul>

Family 5 – The Turners <ul><li>Marney Turner – Zero tolerance, loves the club, owner of the Griffin Pub, friendly, ambitious for her son. </li></ul><ul><li>Fred Turner – Not a fan of football, prefers history and museums, quite boring in character. </li></ul><ul><li>‘ Little Liam’ Turner – Youth player for Brentford, very small, hyperactive, naughty, ADHD, very good football player. </li></ul>
    12. 12. Family 6 – The Kindles <ul><li>Sophie & Holly – Inseparable twins, living the WAG lifestyle, the others think they are annoying, except Joe. </li></ul>

Narrative continued… <ul><li>Possible main storylines – Alcoholic nearly kills himself, Wife leaving die hard Brentford fan, Devoted father’s struggle with life, Dark Horse has a dark past, football fights. </li></ul><ul><li>Female orientated storylines – Die hard woman fan (sister to die hard male fan) announces she is a lesbian and is in love with her brothers wife, WAG’s lifestyle, family relationships. </li></ul>

Target Audience <ul><li>Predominately male audience but, we also have females characters and female storylines for the women. </li></ul><ul><li>Football fans who can relate to the love of a football club and the emotion that comes with following a club. </li></ul><ul><li>Target age range is 18-40 </li></ul>

Trailer <ul><li>Our trailer will be distributed on TV, Radio and online so that we can catch a larger audience and create buzz through our new soap opera </li></ul><ul><li>Our trailer will be a montage of clips from our video </li></ul><ul><li>During the trailer we will pause on individual characters and cut away from the first footage to their day-to-day lives and struggles involving working for Brentford football club </li></ul>

Our Project <ul><li>Our project is based on following the lives of a community who live around and centre their lives around Brentford Football Club. </li></ul><ul><li>They are all involved in the club in some way and in our soap we see when Brentford struggle so do the characters we also see their lives away from Brentford and how they keep balance between their real lives and the love of Brentford </li></ul>
