Cancer:- Cancer is a disease where cell grow out of
control invades, erodes, and destroy normal tissue.
• Individual undergoing chemotherapy frequently
report experiencing symptoms as nausea, vomiting,
loss of appetite, constipation and diarrhea.
• Fever and fatigue are also common side
effects experienced by chemotherapy patients.
• The most apparent and emotionally challenging side
effect associated with chemo treatment is alopecia...a
medical condition in which hair falls out

• Nanoparticles as drug delivery system enable unique approaches for cancer
treatment.
• AuNPs are emerging as promising agent for cancer therapy and plays a
multifunctional role in-
I) image and diagnose diseases
II)Deliver of therapeutic agents
III)Administer electromagnetic radiation to disease
site. .
Review of literature
 Research on Gold nanoparticles as novel agents for cancer therapy by- (S JAIN, MB, Bch, 3D G HIRST, PhD and
1,2J M O’SULLIVAN in 2010) used Gold nanoparticles as emerging and promising agents for cancer therapy and
are being investigated as drug carriers, photothermal agents, contrast agents and radiosensitisers. This review
introduces the field of nanotechnology with a focus on recent gold nanoparticle research which has led to early-
phase clinical trials. In particular, the pre-clinical evidence for gold nanoparticles as sensitisers with ionising
radiation in vitro and in vivo at kilovoltage and megavoltage energies is discussed.

  • 9. Characterization:-  UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy: The formation of gold nanoparticles was verified by the presence of a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) band, with maximum absorption between 500 and 550 nm, using UV–Vis spectroscopy.  Transmission electron microscope (TEM)

Application: • For nanoparticle injection, the laser beam is focused directly onto individual gold particles to induce the highest amount of heat and force in order to push the particles directly into the cell. The result of the complete injection process for a single cell. • Photothermal therapy (PTT) is a central application of gold nanoparticles in cancer treatment. Gold nanoparticles absorb incident photons and convert them to heat to destroy cancer cells.
  • 12. Result expected:- • We will develop a seeding growth approach to prepare gold nanoparticles 5- 40 nm in diameter with a very narrow size distribution (SD∼10-15%). The particle sizes can be easily manipulate by varying the ratio of seed to metal salt. To avoid any secondary nucleation, a step by step particle enlargement is more effective than a one-step seeding method. In addition, this method can be used for larger scale synthesis of gold nanoparticles.
