Input devices

  1. 1. The part of computer which we use toenter the information into the computer are called Input Devices. These are
  2. 2. The most common input device is the Keyboard. Information typed from it is translated by the computer into recognizable patterns. In these days, keyboard with over hundred keys are common in the computer field.
  3. 3. Mouse is another well known pointing device. It is connected by a write to theSystem Unit. By using it, it becomes easier to use computer. We do not need to remember the specific keys for different functions.
  4. 4. Joystick is another input device. It isusually used in playing computer games. The joystick is a hand-held device that allows the user to move objects on the screen.
  5. 5. Light Pen is a pen shaped device. Its one end is attached to the computer with a cable andother end can detect the presence or absence on the screen. This is used to educate the children or for designing purposes.
  6. 6. It is another important and useful inputdevice. It scans (reads)the printed page or a picture and stores it into computer memory. There are two major types of scanners; Hand-held Scanner Flatbed Scanner
  7. 7. Is found in libraries and general stores.Computer reads the price of an item withthe help of a hand-held scanner in general stores.
  8. 8. Flatbed scanners are used to store text or graphics filled papers, big and small pictures and maps etc. in computer memory.
  9. 9. A Digital Camera is an input device. Ittakes continuous pictures and generates asignal for display or recording. It captures (records)images by breaking down the image into a series of line.
