STREET BY STREETSAFECAST has recently completed detailed, street-by-street environmental radiation measurements for thetown of Minamisoma, and is in the process of measuring three towns in Tamura. Fukushima Prefecture haschosen SAFECAST to provide data for its citizens about radiation levels worldwide. These government bodiesrecognize the importance of having accurate and open independent radiation information made available fortheir citizens, and understand the advantages of partnering with SAFECAST to accomplish this. Using ourown equipment and volunteers, we can do this task quickly and at no cost.Upon official written request from a municipal government, SAFECAST will measure radiation dose data in acomplete and detailed fashion, with cooperation from SAFECAST volunteers.The municipality may freely utilize this radiation dose data for its own purposes and in any manner, such asdisclosing the data after processing it in various ways. The Municipality may also utilize any other data madeavailable to the public by SAFECAST.SAFECAST will, in accordance with its purpose of globally sharing radiation dose data, combine the radiationdose data collected in the municipality with radiation dose data collected separately, including processessuch as visualization and analysis, and will make the data public and freely available for download. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSQ: How much time wil it take to measure our city? A: The entire city can be measured in a few weeks. The exact time required depends on the number of routes and specific equipment used. Our measurements will provide a unique “snapshot” of the city in a short time frame. Q: What vehicles are used for measuring? A: Measurements can be done using any type of vehicle, including automobiles or motorbikes. Also, the sensor is mounted outside the vehicle, giving a much more accurate reading compared to measurements taken from inside a vehicle.Q: Is there any chance we will intrude on people’s privacy? A: No. Locations are truncated to protect citizens’ privacy.Q: We would like to measure our city more than once, for example every 3 or 6 months, in the same way. Isthis possible? A: Yes, on request of the mayor, we will be able to repeat the measurement process. We see distinct merits to measuring every 3 or 6 months. And more importantly, repeated measurements will be done using the same consistent techniques, so that changes over time can accurately be ascertained.Q: What data will you provide to us? A: The city will receive raw data, a map in PDF format, and converted data in KML format for use in Google Earth, etc..Q: Can we put the map and data on our city’s home page, and can we link to other Safecast maps? A: Yes. There’s no copyright on our maps or our data, but we ask that the city to attribute the data and maps to Safecast and provide a link to our website.Q: Do we have to do the measurements ourselves? A: No. The city only needs to request Safecast to do this – there are no obligations or any responsibility for doing the measurements by the city.Q: If the city prefers to do measurments ourselves, can we? ストリート X ストリートSAFECAST は福島県南相馬市の詳細な市街（ストリート X ストリート）環境放射線量測定を最近完了し、現在、田村市の３つの町で測定中です。福島県庁は世界中の放射線量データを県民に提供するにあたりSAFECASTをパートナーに選びました。これらの地方自治体では、独立した第三者機関が測定した正確でオープンな放射線量情報を市民が閲覧できることを重要視しています。その実現にあたり、SAFECASTとの協力体制ができました。独自の線量計の利用とボランティアスタッフの協力により、迅速かつ無償で貴自治体に測定サービスを提供できます。自治体から公の要請があった場合、SAFECASTは、ボランティアスタッフと共に、包括的で詳細な手法で放射線量データの測定を実施します。測定には、SAFECASTが開発した線量計（「bGeigie」等）を使用します。この線量計は、放射線量データを自動的に一定の時間間隔で（例：5秒毎に1回）測定するような設定し、地元住民のプライバシーを保護するように測定データを記録します。提携した各自治体は、様々な方法で処理後にデータを公表するなど、それぞれの目的や方法に合わせて、測定した放射線量データを自由に活用していただけます。また、SAFECASTが公開するその他のデータの活用についても同様です。SAFECASTは、放射線量データを世界中と共有するという目的に従い、各自治体で測定した放射線量データと、データ解析や可視化といった処理を含め、別途収集したデータとを組合せ、インターネット経由で自由にダウンロードできるようにデータを公開します。また、住民のプライバシーを保護するように適切な対策を取ります。SAFECASTはこのサービスを無償で提供いたします。詳しくは email@example.com までご連絡ください。
