Fair Play – Equal Rules <ul><li>Fair Play, Equal Rules campaigning started in Finland in the year 2006 </li></ul><ul><li>Campaign is a joint effort of three Finnish NGO’s: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Pro Fair Trade Finland (Repu)‏ </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Football Association of Finland (Suomen Palloliitto) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Trade Union Solidarity Center of Finland (SASK)‏ </li></ul></ul><ul><li>The overall goal of the campaign is to improve working conditions in sports gear production, especially football production, in the developing countries </li></ul>

Working with volunteers of sport <ul><li>Sports club volunteers are the most important group for the campaign: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>In Finland over 500 000 people are involved in sport clubs </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Sports club activities is the biggest voluntary movement in Finland </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Big challenge for the campaign is to rise awareness amongst the people volunteering in the sports clubs </li></ul>

Understanding the volunteers of the sports sector <ul><li>People work in the sports clubs as a volunteer for different reasons, here are couple of examples: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Physical and mental healt </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Family </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Tradition </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Passion and idealism </li></ul></ul><ul><li>The important thing is to find the different ways how Fair Trade, Equal Rules -campaign can support the basic work of volunteers in the sports clubs </li></ul><ul><li>-> how the idea of the campaign becomes part of the normal activities of the clubs </li></ul>

How do we do it? <ul><li>Inform effectively the correct message of the campaign </li></ul><ul><li>Inform effectively how to improve the goal of campaign </li></ul><ul><li>Find the right people from the club </li></ul><ul><li>-> Break the wrong thoughts about Fair Trade Footballs and the idea of the campaign </li></ul><ul><li>-> Help volunteers to find the ways how they can support the campaign in their own sports club </li></ul><ul><li>-> Don’t hesitate to take a contact, be supportive all the time </li></ul>

Results so far... <ul><li>In 3 years Fair Trade, Equal Rules -campaign has found 20 -30 contact from different sport clubs </li></ul><ul><li>Next challenge is to create networks between those clubs and find more - > Umbro's Fair Trade footballs will help that a lot in the future! </li></ul><ul><li>Year 2009 the campaign will arrange two open educational weekends for all the Finnish volunteers: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Basic information about the campaign, how to inspire sports clubs to use ethical products etc. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Volunteers from sport clubs, Pro Fair Trade Finland and Labour Unions will be invited </li></ul></ul>
