  2. 2. Consider this when buying translations: • Choose translation company carefully • Indicate languages, subject area and deadline • Look through your text before you email it • Plan your translation project • Who is the reader?
  3. 3. • Do you have any reference material? • File formats? • Pictures with text? • Stick to the same translation company if possible
  4. 4. Choose translation company carefully • Choose a translation company that always applies the native speaker principle. • See to that the translators know your subject area well.
  5. 5. Look through your text before you email it • If necessary, go over your text once more before you email it – this will save you money and time!
  6. 6. Indicate languages, subject area and deadline • Indicate source language, what type of document it is, target language, subject area, and if there is a deadline.
  7. 7. Plan your translation project • If possible, plan your translation project and order in time. This will give the translator enough time to produce highest possible quality!
  8. 8. Who is the reader? • If it’s not obvious who will be reading the text – indicate your ”audience” and purpose.
  9. 9. Do you have any reference material? • Let us know if you have any terminology that you prefer, e.g. previous product information. If you don’t, it’s not a problem. All professional translation agencies have terminology databases.
  10. 10. File formats? • In what file formats do you have the text? The original document is almost always preferable. Take a little time to check this – it usually has a positive effect on the price.
  11. 11. Pictures with text? • Does your document contain pictures with text? Please let us know if you want this text to be translated.
  12. 12. Stick to the same translation company if possible • Establish a long-term business relationship with one translation company. This will ensure that your texts are consistent and always contain the same terminology and style!
