  8. 8. The Chair's Role The Chairman is the leader and controller of the meeting who carries the authority to keep order and maintain progress in line with the agenda

The Chair's Role <ul><li>Duties of the chairman are: </li></ul><ul><li>encourage discussion so that participants feel they have the opportunity to air their views </li></ul><ul><li>keep discussion to the time allocated on the agenda </li></ul><ul><li>decide when it is appropriate to discontinue discussion of a topic and reschedule it for the next meeting </li></ul><ul><li>decide to cut topics from the agenda if more important and/or more urgent issues arise </li></ul>
