Basic Striking 2 Weighting & Placing

  1. 1. Basic Striking Drills: Weighting & Placing 13m 20m 45m 65m Drill A: Players stand on blue bollards closest to sidelines and strike the ball directly into the hand of their partner on the opposite blue bollard. The PURPOSE of this drill is to aid the striking, judgement of flight, and catching. When catching players should visualise where their opponent would be and what they would be doing. The drill can be repeated on the inside blue bollards by striking with the weak hand. Drill B: Both players are at the blue bollards closest to the sidelines. One player runs to the inside blue bollard and strikes the ball outside the opposite yellow or red bollard. The ball should be lobbed and take its first hop close to the bollard. The PURPOSE of this drill is to place a pass that gives a team mate maximum advantage. The striker should imagine that there are opponents populating the middle of the field.
