The Red cones indicate where players should be positioned when the ball is in a central position. The Yellow cones indicate where players should be moving to as the ball is traveling to wide positions. Players should learn to move AS THE BALL IS TRAVELING and timing movements correctly at the right moments. Play should start with players circulating the ball along the back 5 (backs + DCM) & on coaches signal, perform the designated pattern (see next pages). Objective: Coaching Points: Attacking: - 2 touch rhythm - losing your mark at the right moment (as the ball is traveling) -All players should be shifting Progression: Created using SoccerTutor. com Tactics Manager | © SoccerTutor. com Ltd. 2001 - 2014 All Rights Reserved

The visual cue for this pattern should be as the ball travels to the LB/ RB with time/ space. As the ball travels to LB, LW should lose marker (see "lose man activity"). Two scenarios should be taught: 1) LB to LW without pressure & can turn, plays into path of LB for 1st time cross, 2) LW cannot turn, lays off to LCM (who should be checking to LW as ball travels to LW) through ball to LB for 1st time cross. CF, LW, weak-side CM should make 3 runs in box. To teach coordinated attacking movements based on LB/ RB having time to attack forward. Attacking: - 2 touch rhythm - losing your mark at the right moment (as the ball is traveling) -All players should be shifting SLOWLY add pressure to certain aspects. For example, add a limited defender on LW to add decision-making about what scenario to execute.
