During Rushcliffe Borough Council's 50+ week of activities for older residents, two creative writing sessions will be held in West Bridgford led by professional writers. The first session focuses on prose writing led by the Notts County Council literature development officer. The second session focuses on poetry led by a local poet who recently won a national award. Both sessions are on October 24th and 26th from 10am to 12pm at a cost of £2 each. No experience is needed to participate, just an enthusiasm for creative writing. 1. Creative writing for the over 50s
During Rushcliffe Borough Council’s 50+ week of activities targeting the older
generation, (23 - 28 October) professional writers are leading two creative writing
sessions in West Bridgford.
The first session on Tuesday 24 October at Bridgford Park Pavilion, led by Notts
County Council’s literature development officer, Ross Bradshaw, concentrates on
prose writing. The second session, which takes place in Committee Room 2 at the
Civic Centre on Thursday 26 October, focuses on poetry. Local poet, Karen Goodwin,
who recently won a national award for her work, will lead this session. Both sessions
take place from 10am until 12 noon. The cost of each session is £2.
Community Leisure Officer at the council, Sharon Scaniglia said: "You don’t have to
have any experience to take part, just an enthusiasm to create new work or learn some
tips from the experts."
